Mentawai Island
The Mentawai Islands are a chain of about seventy islands and islets off the western coast of Sumatra in Indonesia. Siberut (4,030 km²) is the largest of the islands. The other major islands are Sipura, North Pagai (Pagai Utara) and South Pagai (Pagai Selatan). The islands lie approximately 150 km off the Sumatran coast, across the Mentawai Strait. The indigenous inhabitants of the islands are known as the Mentawai people. The Mentawai Islands have become a noted destination for surfing. |
- This is us! A cooperation program between J4C Ministry and Nursing School doing social service in Mentawai Island (Sioban). We helped God children to rebuild their faith in God and help them rebuild their houses, school and church after earthquake and tsunami that effected remote area in Mentawai Island.
One of the Church in Mentawai Island, this church is still on progress of rebuilding it because of the earthquake and tsunami so they must rebuild their church one by one. This is the church where we did our social service on sunday service time. Because there is only a few church that eligible to held sunday service, we gather so many children in one church so that all childrens in that Island can see and can feel the presence of God through this service.
